Nobody wants to go to jail but if you know somebody in the Weber County Jail at least you can know what to expect. Dealing with other inmates
When you are behind bars you meet interesting people. You have to be careful about who you talk to, however. Some people are coming off of drugs (especially in the first few days) and a lot of inmates can be setoff by things that you think are normal. Play it safe and always try to show respect to other inmates regardless of what you think of them.

You should avoid fighting at all costs - it can cost you your "good time" or, worse yet, you could pick up new charges. You don't want to spend any more time in Weber County Jail than you have to.

Good time
Good time, or time off for good behavior, isn't hard to get. By default you're going to get it unless the judge specifically says you can't have it. It is yours to lose - the jail administrators like it because Weber County Jail is crowded and it allows them to make more room. It also gives inmates an incentive to follow rules, which is very important in a corrections environment.

The most you can get in WCJ is 10 days off for every 30 days served. This means that on a 1 year sentence you will only serve 8 months behind bars (assuming you're good time is not revoked by a judge and you stay out of trouble).

Phone calls
Phone calls in jail are never cheap and Weber is no exception. You have to pay $2.50 for 15-20 minutes of talk time (there are some inconsistency between reports, see the telephone section of the interview for more information). You can really rack up a phone bill even making local calls so unless you have somebody on the outside constantly putting money on your books this won't be an option.

You can also have visitors come at least once a week. Read about the visitor policy in Weber County Jail.
